How to find new padel club projects in the US
A practical guide for court builders and suppliers, using our tracked pre-opening dataset.
New padel clubs in the US rarely appear out of nowhere. Months before opening, almost every project leaves a public trail. This guide explains where that trail starts and what our own dataset shows about it.
What our dataset shows
We currently track 60 pre-opening racquet club projects in 26 states (incl. DC). 28 of them are padel clubs, and a further 11 are multi-racquet facilities that often include padel. The states with the most padel projects are Florida (8), Texas (4), Illinois (2), Washington (2), Colorado (1), Virginia (1).
Padel projects by stage:
| Stage | Projects |
|---|---|
| planning/zoning | 7 |
| site plan | 2 |
| announced | 11 |
| building permit | 1 |
| under construction | 5 |
| opening date set | 2 |
Where to look
- Zoning and planning agendas. Planning/zoning is the most common stage in our padel data (7 of 28 projects). Search city and county agendas for "padel", "racquet", "special use" and "indoor recreation".
- Site plan submissions. Development review portals often publish the site plan with court layouts before any press coverage.
- Building permits. Permit descriptions such as "tenant improvement – padel courts" confirm a project is moving.
- Local news and operator announcements. 11 padel projects in our data are at announced stage: publicised, but site or timing still firming up.
- Liquor licence filings. A late signal, but useful for fit-out, booking and camera suppliers.
Doing it at scale
Checking hundreds of jurisdictions every week is slow. That is the job we do: each project is verified against a public source, tagged by sport and stage, and re-checked. See how it works, or start with the free weekly list.
